AFGHANISTAN: The US has killed al-Qaeda leader Al-Zawahiri in a drone strike in Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan. Zawahiri was killed in a codrone strike on Sunday afternoon after receiving intelligence information that Zawahiri was hiding. Zawahiri took over the terrorist organization after the killing of Osama bin Laden in 2011. After the death of Zawahiri, the Taliban seems to be coming to an end.
According to the reports of the New York Times, this drone strike was done by the special team of the US intelligence agency CIA. Zawahiri had been living in Kabul since the Taliban government came to power in August 2021 in Afghanistan. The Taliban has been furious over this action of America and has called it a violation of the Doha Agreement.
Biden's operation successful
US President Joe Biden addressed the nation after the death of al-Zawahiri and said – 'America has found and killed Zawahiri. If any danger comes to the people here, we will not leave it. We will continue the attack on terror in Afghanistan.
Biden also tweeted earlier, 'On my instructions on Saturday, the US conducted an airstrike in Kabul, Afghanistan, in which Al Qaeda's Emir Ayman al-Zawahiri was killed. Justice has been done.
2 times left from Zawahiri
America has made two attempts before to kill Zawahiri but he used to escape. The first attack happened in 2001. The US had received information about Zawahiri hiding in Tora Bora, Afghanistan. However, Zawahiri fled before the attack could take place. However, his wife and children were killed in this attack.
The US intelligence agency again set a trap for the attack in 2006. At that time Zawahiri was in Damdola, Pakistan. However, Zawahiri had escaped from there before the missile attack took place.
