The Income Tax Department has seized benami properties worth crores of rupees by raiding the premises of a textile trader, steel and real estate developer in Maharashtra. The operation of the raids lasted from August 1 to 8 at the traders located in Jalna district and the officials gave information about it today. The total value of the seized assets is around 390 crores and includes 56 crores cash and 32 kg of gold and diamonds and pearls. The value of the property is around 390 crores. The department has also seized relevant documents.
Digital data also recovered, jewelery worth 14 crores
According to officials, the businessman was accused of tax evasion and on the basis of information received in this regard, the Income Tax Department team raided last week. A senior official of the department said 56 crore cash and seized jewelery are worth 14 crore. Apart from documents, digital data has also been found in the action.
Recently, the investigating agencies took many big actions.
The Income Tax Department has also raided the houses, offices and factories of steel makers in Jalna. In recent days, the investigating agencies have taken many big actions in some states including Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and have seized cash worth crores of rupees. Apart from Piyush Jain, a perfume trader from Kannauj in UP, Arpita Mukherjee, a close aide of Partha Chatterjee, who was a minister in the Bengal government, has got the investigating agencies here.
